US Sailing Small Boat Instructor Programs - having the proper training is critical in any sailing program as safety should always be a top concern when planing. Having instructors trained as certified instructors provides a level safety and also standards for a successful program.

PGJSA Instructor Day Training - This one-day, preseason PGJSA training uses certified US Sailing trainers to give newer instructors a foundational bridge as they transition from students to staff, while also providing our more seasoned instructors with additional support through current and updated training that can be applied back at their home clubs. The condensed, single-day session offers newer instructors a clear and efficient pathway from student to staff. Led by certified US Sailing trainers, the program emphasizes core instructional skills, safety protocols, classroom and on-the-water techniques, and adherence to program standards. The course covers key areas including: fundamentals of teaching and learning specific to sailing; on-water coaching methods and safety management; risk assessment and emergency procedures; consistent technical and program standards aligned with US Sailing; and effective communication, professionalism, and class leadership skills. This focused preseason training accelerates readiness for seasonal instruction, builds instructor confidence, and helps prepare participants for recognized national certifications such as the Small Boat Level 1.
